Melissa Gamble resignes the Fashion Advisory Council

Chicago fashion has a great need for us to work together.

We have established organizations such as the Chicago Fashion Advisory Council, the recently incapacitated GenArt organization, and Apparel Industry Board, however these organizations have not been sufficient sources for Chicago's holistic development as a fashion city. The director of fashion of the Fashion Advisory Council, Melissa Gable recently resigned and we face the task of filling in the gap of a very talented fashion visionary.

As Ms. Gable moves on to the Department of Fashion Studies at Columbia College to teach, we should take comfort knowing that those students will be better equipped to offer innovation and consistency to Chicago fashion. However, we are all responsible for the repair of the state of fashion and fortunately everyone can play a role as we traverse this temporary and unfortunate period. There is a new crop of companies and fresh ideas converging on Chicago and the forecast is sunny.

We look forward to collaborating with you to elevate fashion in the Windy City to its potential.
